The Bay Area has always been a hot bed of cool and unique musical acts, a plethora of bands that are the creators of their chosen genre. The Bay just doesn’t dissapoint when it comes to non-regurgitated music! With this in mind, we’re stoked to have the Bay’s own OVVL on Cold Ones and Rolled Ones with Ami Lawless. Over the past few years OVVL has released an LP, cassette single and an EP; All have been met with critical acclaim by not only this band’s peers but also the most discerning music critics alike. OVVL play a tight and heavy jammed out style of solid rock and roll, with a stoney nod to the 70’s era. Easy comparisons could be made to BLACK SABBATH, HAWKWIND and PENTAGRAM, yet OVVL’s sound adds a heavy dose of raw brutality into the mix. While you can definitly hear this band’s influences here and there throughout thier releases, they manage to keep thier stylings fresh and uncompromisingly new, this band isn’t fallowing bland trends, they’re creating a genre that pays homage to the past. Today on Cold Ones with Ami Lawless, drummer Clint Baechle will be swinging through the Radio Valencia studios with some of
his OVVL bandmates (FYI, two band members are his brothers) to chat us up about what the band is up to. We’ll spin some sweet OVVL tracks and they’ll play some tunes form other bands they are into. This show is not to be missed. Tune in for the music/stay for the chaos!

On today’s episode of Cold Ones & Rolled Ones with Ami Lawless, Ami’s in studio guests will be; Eric Cutler and Erika Osterhout of Bay Area old school death metal band NECROSIC. Although NECROSIC is a newer band, both Cutler and Osterhout have been kicking around the bay area metal scene for some time; Cutler a founding member of legendary AUTOPSY and DOOMED, while Osterhout has done time in SCOLAX. We will be spinning some tunes from NECROSIC as well as the other bands both these bad asses have been a part of and of course we will be chatting about all things NECROSIC as well as the Bay Area metal scene/community. You can always hit us up in the chat room or on the phone lines during the show if you want to ask a question. This is a not to be missed show and if you’ve ever been a fan of old school death metal, thrash or punk; then this is for you. Other members of NECROSIC include vo-killist Steve Morris (ENVIRUSMENT & DEMENSION 13), guitarist Scott Stanton (MUMMIFICATION & GLOB) and rounding out this stellar line up is drummer John Shafer (FUNERAL). On today’s episode of Cold Ones & Rolled Ones with Ami Lawless, Ami’s guests will be punk rawk icon Dave Dictor of legendary band MDC and ARNOCORPS super hero/front man Holzfeuer. MDC were an integral part of the Austin, Texas hardcore scene in the early 80’s along side THE DICKS & THE BIG BOYS, then relocated around the same time to San Francisco and were a part of this ever growing punk rawk community as well. Not many bands can say they were there for the birth of both these vibrant music scenes. MDC’s main component has been Dave Dictor. Dave has fronted this band since the get go (they started out under the name THE STAINS), helping to establish MDC as one of the best and longest running punk bands that have always questioned & confronted the status quo through their music. With Dave’s unique socio-politcal lyrics MDC have called out everything from multi-corporate domination to homophobia to Reagan era shenanigans to the violent suppression of Communism in Central America. MDC is a band that fully utilizes the “soap box” they’ve been given to educate and get their audiences thinking & questioning the world at large. MDC will be making their return back to the bay, playing Gilman On Friday June 14th. Action adventure, hardcore rock n rollers, ARNOCORPS is celebrating a brand spanking new release called THE FANTASTIC EP and will be bringing the super hero action to Slims in San Francisco Friday June 14th. Holzfeuer frontman & kick ass hero will be taking some time out of his busy super hero schedule to chat us up and let us premier some tracks off the new EP. ARNOCORPS has won best band in Best of The Bay and have built quite the loyal hero/she-ro fan fallowing over the past decade, with good reason; This band is fun, exciting and play some of the best hardcore-punk-n-roll! If you’ve not seen ARNOCORPS, this Friday is your chance to come correct and join the rescue team!
Dave Dictor of MDC, delivering the message to the masses!

Bob and KONTRASEKT, laying down the heavy crust.
On today’s episode of Cold Ones & Rolled Ones with Ami Lawless (6:00pm-8:00pm), Minneapolis crust bastards KONTRASEKT will be live in the Rad-Val studios! This band is on a full US tour, bringing their aggressive hardcore brand of crust punk to the masses while leaving each city they play in flames. Front man BOB DK, who’s also done time in mid-west punk legends URBAN DK & DESPITE has been an integral part of the Wisconsin & Minneapolis punk community for decades. This guy has played in numerous bands, set up shows, housed & fed touring bands and been a real stand up supporter of his regions vibrant punx community. This guy is one of my personal heroes and somebody I am honored to call a friend. We’ve been trying to schedule an interview for almost two years now and the day has come, tune in for his wise words and wit, along with his bandmates. We will be playing some KONTRASEKT as well! Actually I did interview Bob about 15 years ago in one of the fan zines I used to put out in the 90’s called Selfish Satan. This interview was when Bob was in DESPITE, who had put out one of my Top 15 albums of all time; DESPITE- The Destroyers Will Be Destroyed (Six Weeks Records) around that time and was touring the West Coast, playing venues like the legendary Gilman Street Project. Many years have passed but things haven’t changed too drastically; Bob is still playing crusty music and touring. Be sure to catch KONTRASEKT when they hit your town and if you’re in the Bay Area, KONTRASEKT is playing two shows, one on each side of the bridge; Tonight at The Knockout in The Mission of San Francisco (with Australia’s KROMOSOME) and Friday at The Pink String in Oakland (with BEDRUCKEN & BLOWN TO BITS). As usual the hardcore/punk/metal will be spun, tune in for the music/stay for the chaos.

Today’s Cold Ones & Rolled Ones with Ami Lawless is chock full of punk & metal goodness! Best tune in 6pm-8pm for your chance to win tickets to SUBHUMANS and TOTAL CHAOS at The Oakland Metro this Friday and Savannah metal-freaks KYLESA at Slims this Saturday. huge thanks to the fine folks at The Oakland Metro and Slims/Great American Music Hall for providing tickets.
Laura Pleasants guitar-goddess of KYLESA.
As if the ticket giveaways aren’t enough, Dick Lucas from UK anarcho-punk legends SUBHUMANS will be chatting us up about punk and the meaning of life. It’s almost unfathomable that the SUBHUMANS first EP “Demolition War” was releases in 1981 and their first album “The Day The Country Died” came out thirty years ago this year! Not many punk bands have kept it going this long and have stayed as relevant as the SUBHUMANS have. This band did take some years off between 1985-1998, with only a one off reunion gig during this period, however when they came back they became quite the touring entity. Making the jump across the pond to North America regularly playing sold out clubs and DIY venues. Dick also fronts the dancy political ska-punk band CITIZEN FISH, his brand of well thought out socio-political and witty lyrics definitely makes him stand out in the crowd of punk.
Rob Chaos of TOTAL CHAOS will also be calling in from the road and giving away the secret on how to live your life in TOTAL CHAOS. TOTAL CHAOS started shaking up the punk scene in Pomona CA back in 1989 and were the political punks that actually got things done in their local punk community. Rob was a part of Food Not Bombs, helped open the Los Angeles Anarchist Center and helped bring attention to The Big Mountain Indian Reservation. Rob is also a co-founder of S.O.S. Records and was the owner of The Showcase Theatre in Corona; which was a mainstay venue from 1993-2008, hosting thousands of bands over the years.
But wait, there’s more; in the first hour our home-grrrl Laura Pleasants (vo-kills and guitar) of dark psych-metal band KYLESA will be on the show talking about all things KYLESA and the true meaning of “the dirty south”. Laura has also generously given us a couple brand new KYLESA tracks to premier on the show and we’ll also play some of their classic oldies. Don’t forget KYLESA will be decimating Slims this coming Saturday May 25th.
This is going to be one helluva show today! Be sure to tune in at radiovalencia.fm from 6:00pm-8:00pm today Thursday May 23, 2013, tune in for the music and free stuff, stay for the chaos!
