Hey hey. It’s that time of the year when the music industry, music fans & non music fans from all over the world start flooding the state capitol streets of Austin, Texas for five days of live music (day & night), boozin’ and eat enough BBQ that could feed a few third world countries. Unfortunately, I will not be attending this year, but bet your ass I’ll be there in spirit. I usually roll into ATX the night before the music fest happens. Why? Because that night you can get into pretty much any good show you want. I usually end up seeing HONKY with most of my Texas buds because they always play that Tuesday night. Also, a lot of people will bitch and complain about SXSW and nothing you say will turn their opinion of it, but I don’t give a fuck. I’ve been going to SXSW since it’s beginnings. The badge was $5 at one time if memory serves right. I know the ins & outs of 6th Street and beyond during SXSW. I know the good showcases, where the parties are happening, the hidden shows and where the FREE shit is. Yep, going to SXSW and finding the free shit (food, beer, swag, shows and sometimes drugs) is a treat. I always have a good time there. I love seeing people I usually don’t see ever, but we all meet up in Austin and have a good damn time. I also leave with new contacts, new bands and new friends as well. Have fun in Austin, be cool out there and remember, take a siesta between 5 & 7PM. Trust me, you’ll feel good for the resat of the night. CHEERS!

Tomorrow, March 6th will be the official Melvins “Kickstarter” campaign to fund the upcoming documentary, The Colossus Of Destiny: A Melvins Tale. I have no idea what time or the goodies are going to be, but you better put your alarm clock for 6AM and have the coffee & donuts ready because it’s going to be a doozy.
