The music industry is full of "genres" and "categories" in an effort to artificially steer the consumer towards product and dissuade listeners from making uniquely personal choices about their music listening habits. While the Conflux Cornucopia Cerebellum Cocktail Hour often provides a "Themed" experience, meant to indulge in a particular mood or vibe, it's core theme, in absence of any other, is to dispel the notion that genres have real importance and to expose show listeners to a variety of sounds and styles the world over. Collecting and blending sounds in a sort of chemistry to unlock endless possibilities.
This show is as simple as that concept and is a musical journey much like a buffet of culinary treats for your ears.

However, life does sometime provide surprises, and the arrival of DJ Deathwish about half way through altered my original plans in lieu of doing the album review we'd been talking about leading up to the release of the latest King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard latest album, The Silver Chord. So off the rails we went. Along with the event next door addressing the war in Isreal/Palastine, and some interesting dialogue on the side. Proof that it's always good to remain flexible and be adaptable.

Also many thanks to our new friend Rachael who brought a lot extra levity to the show.

This show was a Skallabration of Shanty Town Classics. Lots of Ska, Reggae, Rock Steady, Two Two, Crossover/Ska/Punk, Third Wave and yes, even some Dub. We also had a special visit from Floratura, who, while not in the genre of the evening, are a beacon of light and positive vibrations....so it feels a reggae adjacent enough to be included as a beautiful interlude which occurs about the 80 minuute mark and continues for about an hour.
We also had DX Funky Grandpaux stick around after his show In the Land of Hi Fi which airs immediately prior to this show for the first hour which was a great bonus, and DJ Deathwish (Chris Khrone) was an everpresent cohort of mayhem as this evening went with the improve tenet of YES......and........and away we go.

This episode is meant to be a companion show to The Alchemist Lair Vol. 17: The Weird Revolution. This show is an experiment in being locked within your own mind and what that might sound and feel like. The subsequent show is about freeing your mind and finding your inner true self. Your weirdness.

I would say this is at the darkest end of the spectrum from where I would direct energy into the Conflux Cornucopia Cerebellum Cocktail Hour, and the very lightest I would place The Alchemist's Lair. In that way the show meet up in the middle very nicely and allow themselves to be an expressive pairing. This is why the Alchemist's Lair V17 aired on Saturday night subsequent to this show.
