This past week Radio Valencia officially made the move into our new digs at Mission & 20th, and it promises to inaugurate a whole new era in pirate radio for San Francisco. After two years under the wing of Chicken John Rinaldi, the station which formerly resided in what amounted to little more than a broom closet at Chez Poulet (Chicken’s warehouse) has flown the coop to feather a nest in a bright and airy third-floor office space located at 2390 Mission St, on the northwest corner of 20th St directly across from Bruno’s. This is penthouse perfection compared to the dismal squalor of our previous locale, with a custom designed and fully soundproofed broadcast booth overlooking the colorful bustle of the street below. Parting ways with Chicken John has brought a lump in the throat and a tear in the eye to each and every one of us here at the station, and we wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors.
We’re still in the setting-up-shop stage in terms of our technical facilities, but when we’re finished with our plans there will be an office with lounge and music library, production booth, and a spacious studio that’s been wired and primed to accommodate live amplified bands and all sundry guests and representatives of our vital and creative community, from the Mission to the greater SF Bay Area.
Come check out our new home at 2390 Mission St, Suite 302, 415-962-7979 We’re looking for new DJs and radio talent and we’d love to hear from you.
