Literary Ladies Night on Drinks with Tony: Zapping Zombies & Making Magic

Tuesday, April 23, 9am

This week Tony chats with urban-fantasy novelists Helene Wecker and Dana Fredsti. Wecker’s The Golem and the Jinni braids Arab and Jewish mystical and magical elements in 1899 New York; Fredsti’s Plague Nation continues the adventures of badass zombie hunter Ashley Parker.

Host Tony DuShane is the author of Confessions of a Teenage Jesus Jerk. He may be the only writer to have been published in both Mother Jones and Penthouse. His music column appears weekly in the San Francisco Chronicle, and he teaches workshops through the San Francisco Writers College.

Now in its 11th year, Drinks with Tony celebrates writers, filmmakers, musicians, and other artistic movers and shakers. Previous guests number in the hundreds, and include Chelsea Handler, Parker Posey, Wim Wenders, Nick Cave, and Chuck Palahniuk. The show features a wide range of musical genres, among them New Wave nostalgia, Industrial dance, Gothic crooners, and “jazzy ladies.”
