JOHN CALE (not to be confused with JJ CALE or JOHN CAGE) was one of the founding members of The VELVET UNDERGROUND, and kept himself plenty busy in the decade following his split from that band in 1968. In addition to producing some of the most important and influential rock recordings of the late 1970s (like PATTI SMITH’s Horses and The STOOGES first LP) he had quite an amazing and productive solo career. KIM FOWLEY was a thorn in the side of the beast called pop music for over 50 years. He was arguably the trashy flip side of PHIL SPECTOR, recording crazy wild novelty singles just for the fun of it in the 1960s and then putting together acts like The RUNAWAYS and VENUS AND THE RAZORBLADES in the 1970s. In later years he was more like an underground svengali, showing up in various towns and recording outrageous records with local musicians, and then disappearing just as quickly. Irreverent, difficult, visionary — he definitely left his mark. The Animal Man beckons, fellow music geeks!
