Dwight TwilleyCriminally overlooked despite producing one of the most stellar power-pop singles of the 1970s (“I’m On Fire”), DWIGHT TWILLEY BAND is finally getting its due in films like Diary Of A Teenage Girl 40 years later.  The 2 LPs that were the total output of the band between 1974-1978 are quite amazing in their songcraft from beginning to end, and you can hear both Sincerely and Twilley Don’t Mind in their entirety in this episode of GE.  Make TOM PETTY move over, fellow music geeks!

Hudson BrosFrom last week’s 2 brother collaboration with SPARKS, this week we have 3 brothers in perfect tune from the early 1970s — THE HUDSON BROTHERS!  With a career that includes hit songs and a nutty children’s TV show (The Hudson Brothers Razzle Dazzle Show) as well as a horror film spoof flop, this talented trio flew high for a decade, releasing a couple of stellar pop records in 1974-75 (Totally Out Of Control and Hollywood Situation) which are featured on this episode of GE.  Razzle dazzle indeed, fellow music geeks!

OsmondsIn 1972-3, the world was getting pretty heavy, and teeny-bopper brother sensations THE OSMONDS were not immune to the music trends of the time.  They released 2 LPs in succession that surprised fans and foes alike with their ferocity and their odd presentation of Mormon Church doctrine.  This episode of GE features those two albums (Crazy Horses and The Plan) in their entirety for your listening “pleasure” and religious cult edification.  The LDS never rocked so hard, fellow music geeks!

GROUNDHOGS Burrow Geek EmaNation Podcast!

GroundhogsTony (T.S.) McPhee and The GROUNDHOGS were one of the heaviest blues-based UK bands in their 1970s heyday.  They were also the favourite band of host The Rock’N’Roll Nurse in 1975, 40 years ago!  2 hours on a relatively obscure band from the last century may seem excessive, even self-indulgent, but that’s what makes it a perfect geek pastime.  Get with the rockin’ boogie vibe, fellow music geeks!

saintsThe Rock’N’Roll Nurse doesn’t know what has gotten into him, but a sudden urge to hear the first 2 SAINTS LPs in their entirety has taken hold of him and won’t let go until he acquiesces!  So this episode of GE exists solely to allow for this solipsistic foolishness.  Partake in the late ’70s punk overkill if you dare, fellow music geeks!
