In 1971 geeky maestro FRANK ZAPPA led The MOTHERS OF INVENTION and a dysfunctional family of friends and fans (including the likes of RINGO STARR, KEITH MOON, and THEODORE BIKEL, and TURTLES’ alumni FLO & EDDIE) on a wild excursion into the extremes of self-indulgence with his film 200 Motels and the accompanying 2-LP soundtrack record. Much of the guided insanity seems dated today, but the project still commands attention as an inspired work of collective stream-of-consciousness. Hear the entire soundtrack and more music from the early-’70s era MOTHERS on this GE episode. Hail to the geek king, fellow music geeks!
