This month marks the release of a new record from Kate Bush. Entitled 50 Words For Snow, it’s her first album of new material since Aerial came out six years ago. This is another conceptually articulated work in the thematic sense she’s become known for, and it got me thinking of a theme to base this week’s show on. Along with Kate’s new album in its entirety, I tracked down a wide range of snow-themed music to fill up the whole four hours of the program (and then some), from avant-rock to electronic to neo-folk and chamber music and all manner of pop and indie sounds. including selections from Michael Cashmore, Elliot Smith, Lisa Germano, Shirley Collins, Coil, Cindytalk, the Trash Can Sinatras and much more…

This program is the closest I’m going to come to doing a Christmas-themed edition of Mindtrain. And, due to imminent personal adversities on the event horizon, it may also turn out to be my last program of the year. So I wish you all Happy Holidays – 2012 is fast upon us!
