There's a special kind of music you're just not going to hear on commercial radio. Maybe those corporate types are just scared to take a risk? And such an easy risk to take. I guess this is what happens when you purchase your competition and don't feel the need to break new and exciting artists anymore?

The first artist up tonight isn't necessarily new, and she sure has gotten plenty of attention, but mostly from us here non-comm stations.

Joanna Newsom (cousin to our governor) has a very unique delivery with her voice and harp. I have really been drawn into her for the past few months and am excited to share her Austin City Limits set with you from August 1, 2011.

Our headliner tonight is such a treat. The Knitters are the sort-of-Western Swing version of LA's seminal punk band, X. They even cover a few of X's tunes with a bit of a Western style. Gotta love that. I have always enjoyed seeing X live, and seeing The Knitters is always a crazy and wild ride. This is a super fun show from the Showbox in Seattle, July 22, 2005, featuring the great quartet with Dave Alvin, whom I suspect is a major reason they went this direction. Both X and The Knitters still play. Go see them when they hit your town.

What can I ever say about Miles Davis that would be better than anything ever said about the man? Nothing. I've been listening to Miles since my teens. I'm confident it was my father who turned me onto him, even if he didn't know a lot more about him than the fine music he was hearing.

Early on my Jazz listening was all about Blue Note Be-Bop, which Miles was the undisputed King (OK, there's Bird and Dizzy of course). I ate all that Blue Note era up! When I was at KFJC (88-97) I hosted a mid-day Jazz/Soul/Funk show on Fridays for a few years. That's when I started to do a lot of deep crate digging, driving me towards the late-60s and early 70s era Miles. WOW!

It was then that I read his autobiography "Miles". I have read that book three times and each time is better than the last! I ended up hosting a five part 15 hour Miles Davis special on KFJC. I don't feel like I even scratched the surface of what this artist created.


Tonight's show features the late, great sax player from Miles' second great quintet: Wayne Shorter. I could have chosen a show or two from his post-Miles fusion group Weather Report, but I what I'm playing for you tonight is really going to kick your ass.

Two shows from Miles' 1969 European tour, featuring Shorter on Sax, Chick Corea on piano/organ, Jack DeJohnette on drums, and Dave Holland on bass. The first show is from Festival Mondial du Jazz d'Antibes, La PinËde, Juan-les-Pins, France 7/26/69. The second show is from Folkets Hus, Stockholm 11/5/69. Most of the tracks are from the Bitches Brew era, and live they really come to life. The interplay between all players if beyond words.

Looking through my catalogue of shows I try to put together a night that Bill Graham would be proud of. Let's see if I can find two artists who would have really enjoyed playing on the same bill together. I think I hit the jackpot tonight!
First up I have a classic set by one of the hottest artists of his day: Ray Charles! This show from October 22, 1966 at the Palais Sport in Paris is one of my favorite shows of his. And the quality is really top notch, especially for the time. I'm surprised this was never officially released. I'll need to look into that.

Every song is a smash.

Our headliner tonight would be so humbled to be playing in the top spot, and it would not be false modesty. Amy Winehouse was never false. If anything she had imposter syndrome, which is bad enough. I really wish she found a way to get clean and healthy. My daughter, Little Lauson Hell really is quite obsessed with her, and I can understand why!

I really don't want to turn this show into a tribute show, but the first few weeks of this year have been tough. Let's celebrate these great artists while they're alive, shall we?
I've got two really brilliant shows tonight, featuring East Coast "Punk" bands in their early prime.

First up, Talking Heads from the Old Waldorf in San Francisco, December 3, 1977. This pristine FM-soundboard features a young band, still feeling their way, but with a boatload of confidence in their material. This show is almost exclusively from their first two LPs "More Songs About Buildings and Food" and "1977".

Our headliner tonight is a band that I should have featured on here months ago. I hate that it took the death of front man Tom Verlaine for me to pull this out. I have a memory of working in grocery with a young lady years ago, who told me she had once dated Tom Verlaine. I'm guessing she was many years his junior at the time, but it was the name of the band that really struck me.
Who named their band Television?

I picked up "Marquee Moon" soon after this. It had to be 1994 or 1995. I was probably 24 when I first took note of them. That album really was amazing, from the first listen, on. I was already into bands like Sonic Youth, and it was obvious to me where they got some of their early influences. Verlaine's and Richard Lloyd's angular guitar playing influenced my own. When I think of a band that deserves the honorarium "Godfathers of Alt-Rock", it's probably Television. Bands like Pavement, Sleater-Kinney, REM, The Gun Club, and Dream Syndicate come to mind right away.

I have quite a few Television shows going back to when Richard Hell was on bass (these are rare and the quality is not for airplay). The show tonight is a real gem. July 2, 1978 from the Earth Tavern in Portland, Oregon, following the April release of their second album "Adventure". This is an excellent soundboard recording with a lively crowd. The jams are really strong.

John Hell's Live Bootleg Bonanza

Shoot, two tributes in a row here on the Live Bootleg Bonanza. And this one really stings. I grew up loving Crosby, Stills and Nash, with and without Young. David Crosby's personality has always made me chuckle. I love that he was acutely aware that he was a cantankerous sort, and was OK with that. He knew his own misgivings and made peace with it many years ago.
I also love that he was such a huge fan of Jerry Garcia. I know after the 1970 "If I Could Only Remember My Name" sessions he wanted to join the Grateful Dead. He also knew there was absolutely no place for him in that band. It's like he was being a fanboy about it.

I got to see him a week or so after he was released from prison in 1986, perform at the very first Bridge School benefit. Crosby was shaved bald and had a huge grin the whole show. I had just turned 16, and I went with one of the custodians from my high school that I used to hang out and get stoned with. I think the statute of limitations has run out on that one. HA!

I love that he was tweeting the day before he died. I almost have this sensation that he walked side-by-side with Death, as if to say "OK, let's go", stood up out of his chair and walked out the door.

I hope he's rocking out with so many of his long lost musical friends. Maybe now he and Jerry can jam into eternity?

I start out tonight with some filler from a David and the Dorks show at the Matrix in San Francisco, recorded during Crosby's solo record sessions at Wally Heider studios in December 1970. This show features Crosby on guitar and vocals, Jerry Garcia on guitar and vocals, Phil Lesh on bass, Mickey Hart on drums.

For the headlining show I want you to enjoy this really amazing, and very rare show, September 13, 1969, recorded by an audience member with perfect mic placement. CSN and Y were not even mentioned in the publicity for this small show at the Big Sur Folk Festival at Esalen. Joni Mitchell headlined. This show features Dallas Taylor on bass and Greg Reeves on drums.

The story goes that a guy and his girlfriend recorded this with a microphone on a wooden pole near the PA and they had a reel-to-reel (possibly an Ampex) tape recorder.

Yet another tribute on the show tonight. And here's an artist I featured back in November: Jeff Beck. Beck died on January 10th from bacterial meningitis. Yikes! So sad to see this guitar hero go.
Beck was known for creating some very unique sounds from his guitar, most often not using a pick. As the same goes "often imitated, never duplicated", Beck was one of a kind.

I'm starting off with three tracks from a great early show, featuring the Jeff Beck Group (Rod Stewart on vocals, Ron Wood on bass), from the Fillmore West, July 24, 1968.

From the bootleg "Plus Nobody Japan", this is Jeff Beck at his zenith (when wasn't he at his zenith?) May 25, 1999, live at Club Kanagawa Kennin,Kaikan, Japan. This outstanding soundboard features Tal Wilkenfeld - Bass, Jason Rebello - Keyboards, and Vinnie Colaiuta - Drums.

Monday night I'm paying tribute to my dad, Harvey, who passed away on December 26th following years suffering with Parkinson's Disease. My dad played a huge role in my life from an early age, and my love of music comes from him.
Some of the earliest music I can recall my dad playing was electric Blues, something that I still love to this day. My dad brought home the first Blues Brothers record "Briefcase Full of Blues" shortly after it was released in 1978, and we played that thing to death! I memorized every word, every lick, every drum break, every horn part, and eventually every pop and scratch! I eventually had to purchase a second copy.

My dad loved that record because he grew up knowing most of the originals, especially "Messin' with the Kid" by the artists I'm playing tonight: Buddy Guy and Junior Wells.

My dad spent a lot of time in the Blues and Jazz clubs of Detroit in the early to mid-1960s seeing some really great acts, including Guy and Wells. My dad could spin a tall tale now and then, so I could not say for certain which shows were true and which were some he just wished he saw, but I am certain of his love for the Blues, and Rock and Roll.

This show tonight is a features Guy and Wells in a small club in Cotati, California, September 20, 1984, just ten days before my 14th birthday. Ironically we didn't live that far from Cotati, and this show was shortly after my parents split up. If my dad knew this show was happening he would have made his way there for sure. Little Charlie and the Nightcats are the backing band for this show.

Let's face it, Punk ended in 1978 with the dissolution of the Sex Pistols. It's not that there weren't amazing bands that stuck it out after that, and bands who didn't come around after that, who were seriously influenced by the Sex Pistols. It's just that the original Punk nihilism died in 1978 when the band called it quits.
As much as I love The Clash (and I really do love them grandly), no one could hold a candle to who the Sex Pistols were and what they stood for. The irony of nihilism, and pissing people off just for the sake of doing so just wasn't the same once Johnny quit the band. And there was no way Steve Jones and Paul Cook were going to continue on with Sid Vicious, even with Ronnie Briggs singing.

I've just completed reading "England's Dreaming", by Jon Savage. What a brilliant look at such an important moment in social, political and musical history. I strongly suggest you read both this book and "Please Kill Me", by Legs McNeil and Gillian McCain. You might want to throw in Dee Dee Ramone's autobiography.


This all inspired my show tonight. First up are one of my desert island bands: Mudhoney. I love them, deeply. This show must have been a blast to attend. Recorded April 19, 1992 in Dusseldorf, Germany at the Noise Now Festival. The band was drunk. They make fun of Peter Murphy (who hasn't?). Everyone had fun. This was during their tour for their first major label release "Piece of Cake" on Reprise Records; a record I really enjoyed, although it was a bit overproduced compared to their Sub Pop days. I'm pleased they released the demos from this record a few years back on "Pezado de Pastel".
Superfuzz Bigmuff made a huge impact on me when I first heard it in 1989. Really major. This is a band that kicked my ass, and I still pull them out often. When all my friends were getting into the Grunge bands of the 90s, I asked them point blank who would be remembered in 20 years (now 30+). And I told them Mudhoney will be remembered and respected more than most. They scoffed. We don't talk much these days.

Our headliners tonight are the one and only Sex Pistols. This is from the legendary "let's get out of the country and see if we can tackle America" opening show of the American tour, January 5, 1978 in Atlanta, Georgia. It's hilarious that Malcom McLaren purposely kept the band away from the major cities (except San Francisco for their final show of the tour and their final show as a band), and instead sent them to towns in the deep south purposely to confront an aggressive audience who were skeptical of Punk and British Punk rockers in particular.

There''s three songs tacked on at the end from December 11, 1977 in Maasbree, Scotland as filler.

OK wow, I so love discovering an artist that just blows my mind. Tonight I have TWO for YOU!
First up is a neo-psychadelic group I found when crate digging at Amoeba in Berkeley about a year ago. I knew by the cover this was going to be something special. Even the clerk at the counter told me they had been eyeballing this one. Matt Valentine and Erica Elkin (MV and EE) have been recording together since 2004. They have about 20 releases to their name! WTF? Where have I been?

This show is a rare one, as I have yet to find anything else of theirs making the rounds. Recorded January 19, 2020 at Baby's All Right in Brooklyn, New York. It runs about 36 minutes, and is a tasty soundboard, recorded by Alex Hardwood, and mixed and produced by Eric P for NYCTaper.com

Our headliner tonight deserves your attention. Don't go telling me that you aren't into Jazz, especially if you have no idea what you're talking about. Kamasi Washington embodies so much of the soul of jazz, funk, fusion, soul, R&B, rock, punk, groove...and genres that haven't even been named yet. I cannot stop moving when he's playing. It's as if he can't contain all the movement that's inside of himself, and he needs you to take it off his hands, so he throws it at you through his horn.

With the passing of Christine McVie, the longtime keyboardist and vocalist of pop sensations Fleetwood Mac, it was a no-brainer what I wanted to share with you this week: Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac from 1968, of course. RIP Miss McVie.

Fleetwood Mac was Green's vehicle. It was all about him. He didn't want his name used in the band name because he knew it was going to be temporary. As temporary as it was, he left a lasting imprint on so many great guitarists of his own era, Rory Gallagher, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, just to name a few. Green was only in the band for about three years, 1968 - 1970 (he also filled in on a tour in 1971). Fleetwood Mac have had about 20 lineups over the years, and are as far removed from their blues roots as can be. Though the majority of their fans relish the mid-70s era, it's this late 60s era that I absolutely go gaga over.
This show is a stellar soundboard June 9, 1968, live at the Carousel Ballroom in San Francisco. They share the bill with the Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead. The second set of their show features Paul Butterfield on harmonica. What a blast that weekend in San Francisco must have been.

There are minor channel fluctuations in a few spots but this mostly sounds spectacular with a very 60's sounding mix (vocals in one channel and guitars in the other). To be able to hear Paul Butterfield with Fleetwood Mac is a highlight but Peter Green sounds really great too!
I have heard that this was posted back in the STG era, but this version has been remastered with the sets separated better between discs and some minor "nip and tuck" type edits. No EQ or noise reduction was used in the remastering process.
From Peter Green's stage comments, this is from one week into Fleetwood Mac's first U.S. tour and he sounds like he's having a really good time on the last night of a 3 show run with Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane. This is presumed to be the last night because Peter Green makes a comment about how they'll be back in 2 weeks (not the following night). I think that they returned to the Carousel on the 22nd or 23rd of June.

Dick's copy was likely made from Bear's master, as Bear taped many of the other acts that played the same night as The Grateful Dead. In the two plus years I have hosted this show, this will be the third time I have featured Jimi Hendrix (shows 5 and 51). Tonight is my 83rd live bootleg show and I'm close to slowing down. I have thousands of shows from hundreds of artists, spread across dozens of genres. I live to share these shows with you, free of charge. They have been shared with me, and I am thrilled to pay it forward (so to speak).

Let's start off with some boogie from the Jeff Beck Group, circa 1968, featuring a very young Rod Stewart on vocals, along with Ronnie Wood on bass, Mickey Waller on drums and of course Jeff Beck on guitar. The first is a full show from their set July 24, 1968 at the Fillmore West in San Francisco. This is a remastered edition, which has been phase corrected and cleaned of all glitches and digi-noise. I recall buying "Truth" on LP back in the mid-80s when I was a teenager, and that album blew my young, fragile mind. It still does.

This has the best sound quality of this group in existence. Jeff is on fire, and we get to hear Jeff sing more than any other live show I know of (not that that is neccessarily a good thing). "The Sun is Shining" is worth the price of admission alone. Also, Let Me Love You has a great swing to it, and Jeff's Les Paul tone is awesome.

There is some Jeff Beck filler from the BBC in 1968. I know you're gonna dig.

Our headliner tonight is the one and only Jimi Hendrix Experience, from the LA Forum, April 26, 1969, showcasing the late guitar icon at the height of his abilities. It features the original Experience lineup with Hendrix on guitar and vocals, Noel Redding on bass and Mitch Mitchell on drums, just in time for what would have been Hendrix's 80th birthday (Nov 27).

What a brilliant show from a band at the top of its form. There are a ton of posthumous Hendrix releases, but I think you're going to have a near impossible time finding something that is going to top what you listen to here tonight.

I think my dad was the coolest cat on the block. Of course, for those of us who were lucky to have good fathers in our lives, who didn't think of their dad as the coolest? He was a working man; a watchmaker, and a small business owner. He was a high school dropout, who grew up in the working class neighborhood on the east side of Toledo, Ohio in the 40s, 50s and 60s. He spent much of his teenage years and early 20s rolling up through Ann Arbor and Detroit to race cars and see great live music.
When he wasn't working at his own father's store, he was under the hood of some mid-century classic automobile; usually a Chevy. He would buy cars, fix them up and sell them for a few extra bucks. Every so often he would get himself and my mom a real fun car for them to enjoy (OK, mostly for my dad to enjoy): a 1966 GTO, 1970 429 Super Cobra Jet in a Gran Torino body. And four Corvettes ('64, '66, '66, and '68). I was alive for the '66 and '68. I even took the '66 out for a spin when I was in my late teens. He checked the odometer and busted me for it, but not so bad that he didn't let me drive it with him next to me.

It was the music he turned me onto that has helped turn me into the music-lover I am today. He would always have Jazz and 60s Blues and R&B playing in the garage while I was growing up. The sounds coming from the small speaker were so foreign to my ear, but I was really drawn to them. I'm certain he was never into music like I am, but he always had a great ear for more than just pop. Music was never just in the background for him. He has a discerning ear. Music has always brought him joy. It's taken him to a higher place. I learned at a young age to take music listening seriously; there is always something to learn.

We went to record stores together, and I really love that he would take chances on artists he had never heard, based on the name of the band, or even the look of the record cover. Ha!

Though I wouldn't say Jazz was Harvey's go-to genre, it was my own love of Jazz that I thank him for. I learned to enjoy the composition and rush it because of him. To take it in.

Tonight I have a really great show from the one and only Dizzy Gillespie to share with you from Studio 104, Maison de la Radio, Paris, France, March 15, 1970. This FM broadcast features Dizzy at the prime of his performing years. It also features George Davis (guitar), Mike Longo (piano), Red Mitchell (double bass) and David Lee (drums). Sit back and enjoy this show.

Living in the Bay Area as a music freak means having almost too many good shows around too often. Seriously. it's an embarrassment of riches with plenty to go around. Get here and see for yourself.
Late spring through early fall always meant outdoor shows around here. The summer has always meant shows in Golden Gate Park, Stern Grove and hitting the highway to head to the Sierra's for many festivals. I was an usher at Shoreline Amphitheater in its earliest days, and was lucky to see some very memorable shows. Now that I think about it the summers included the Greek Theater and Frost Amphitheater as well. Then there was the Haight Street Fair. It was overly packed, but the bands were always a hoot.

I've never been one to want to spend a dime for a concert in the park. I just do not understand how Outside Lands can exist in Golden Gate Park. I think if you have a SF ID then you have every right to walk right in there.

The headliner tonight, Lucinda Williams, really shines in an outdoor setting. I have seen here at Stern Grove, and I was at this show you're going to hear tonight, at the remarkable Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival in Golden Gate Park, which takes place for three days around my birthday, at the end of September each year, thanks to the late music lover, and local billionaire, Warren Hellman. When he died he left a trust making certain the festival would continue and that it would remain free. Thanks Warren!

This set from October 3, 2014 is such a treat. The band is in top form, and the set is one of her best, pulling from much of her catalogue, and includes a Neil Young cover and Allman Brothers cover. I know you're going to dig this.

Well it's Halloween and that means it's time for something stronger than dirt, something that will stick to your clothes. Something that's a stain you'll never get out, as hard as you try.
This calls for Iggy!

James "Iggy Pop" Osterberg should not even be alive today. Serious as a heat attack, this guy has nine lives and has used up nearly 20. He has yet to publish a memoir, but when he does you can bet I'll be the first in line to buy it. He's given his fair share of excellent interviews, the best of which appears in the classic Punk history by Legs McNeil and Gillian McCain, "Please Kill Me". Also, there's the seminal documentary "Gimme Danger", which I can gladly watch a few more dozen times.

Iggy is more than a showman. He's the most original from a genre that was as think on originals as it was on posers. Iggy does not suffer fools.

On my show tonight I feature two recent shows that show how strong his spirit remains.

First up is a partial show from his Isle of Wight appearance on June 11, 2016. This is a Sky Arts broadcast, and the quality is incredible. It clocks in at about 21 minutes and I really need to find the rest of this show, I can tell you that.

He's truly in fine form at the tender age of 75! I tell ya, heroin is a preservative! He and Keith Richards will outlive us all. He's got a young (to him) band backing him up, which includes a small horn section. All the hits are here, and he'll punch you in the throat if you're not having a real good time.

In the there's-so-much-good-new-music-why-would-I-continue-to-share-older-shows-with-you department, first I would say I play plenty of newer artists on this show, thank you very much. And secondly, just take a listen to what I have on tap for you tonight!
This first band really blew me away when I discovered them somewhat recently. Hailing from Houston, Texas, Khruangbin is a fascinating trip that mixes rock and global influences including dub, surf and funk into their mostly instrumental tunes. And what a joy they are to look at!

This show from Austin City Limits, at the Moody Theater in Austin, September 13, 2021 is a great glimpse into a band that is hitting their creative peak. They have a lot of Spanish and Middle Eastern influences in their sound too. I have played them a few times on my Monday 8pm show, Hell's Kitchen Radio, and I'm excited to have this live show to share with you tonight.

Our headliner tonight is none other than son of a ladies man, Josh Tillman, aka: Father John Misty. I was first turned onto him when the FJM debut release "Fear Fun" was released, and I was immediately struck by his tongue-in-cheek lyrics and excellent storytelling. I was lucky to see him live a few times during his first tours, including at the Fillmore in SF, and Hardly Strictly Bluegrass.
This show is a digital broadcast from St. David's Hall in Cardiff, UK, is from April 3, 2022 featuring music from his the career of FTM. It's a stellar show with many remarkable performances of favorite songs.

There was Jazz playing in my house growing up, but it wasn't until I hosted a Jazz specialty show on KFJC for four years, that I really dove deep into the genre. There's so much to discover in this truly original American genre.
Monday night, starting at 6pm PDST I've got two great shows to share with you.

First up is the currently departed saxophonist Pharoah Sanders in all his blazing glory, live from the Early Bird Jazz Club, in Antibes, France, July 21, 1968. This show is early in his career as a band leader, and features the late, great Lonnie Liston Smith on piano, Norris Jones on bass, Majeed Shabazz on drums, with guest Michel Roques on tenor sax. Sanders died on September 24, 2022, at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 81.

Our headliner tonight is undisputed heavyweight jazz vocalist of the civil rights era. The one and only Nina Simone. I can't believe I have yet to play a show of hers on this show. Some might tell me I need to play more female Jazz vocalists. To that I say "no thank you!". OK, actually there is a lot more room for female Jazz vocalists. I'm just partial to Miss Simone.
This show is taken from a professional video, recorded March 25, 1969 at the Olympia Theater, Paris France. Hey, two shows from France tonight, less than a year apart, by two Black musicians who were treated with disdain by White American, just to be loved by the French. What a surprise! This entire show features the brilliant piano playing and singing of one of the most original performers ever to grace a stage.

This show features Nina on vocals and piano, Al Schackman on guitar, Gene Perla on bass, Don Alias on drums. Weldon Irving plays organ, with Gina Rothchild and Doris Willingham on backing vocals.

OK, let me tell you about last night. Holy Hell that was one Hell of an awesome show. And I have been to quite a few. Whew! I'm exhausted just thinking about it.

Two years ago my buddy of 30+ years, The Alchemist (Wednesdays 10-midnight on Radio Valencia), gifted me with a pair of tickets to see King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard at The Greek Theater in Berkeley, only to have it postponed until last night! The wait was certainly worth it.
I've been into this band since "Flying Microtonal Banana" was released back in 2017, and I quickly got on the bus. Hey, I can be on more than one bus at a time! Between then and now I have purchased up everything they have released. OK, I think the only thing of theirs I don't have is "LW".

This band is on a completely different level; a different galaxy. Hell, a different UNIVERSE! The Gizz-verse!

The anticipation for this show was running high, and the line to get into the venue was long and a real



treat. Having to been to my share of shows at The Greek, I was confident we would do OK with seating, as long as I didn't have to suffer that damnable hill. I hate that hill. If you've been to The Greek then you hate it too.
I grabbed us seats center stage, five rows up from the soundboard! The sweetest of the sweet spots. And the crowd around us was better than you could ever ask for. A bunch of younger heads were right behind us. A few from Santa Cruz and their friends who flew in from Minneapolis. Shout out to Jamie, Alec, and Cameron. You guys were really great to dance with. There were a couple guys closer to our age right in front: CJ, and his buddy. It really reminded me of seeing the Dead in the 80s, when band was at a peak.


KGLW came out ready for the three hour marathon. I'm not going to write a show review, but I can tell you that the musicianship, along with the powerful lights and ridiculous video background, really allowed for a fully immersive experience; one I will not soon forget.
I've seen some really good shows lately, KGLW, Kikagaku Moyo, and OCees (Thee Oh Sees, OCS, etc, etc. etc.). The standards have been set pretty high. It's going to take a while to come down to planet Earth after this show.

Tonight, I'm excited to bring you highlights from their two weekends at Coachella, April 15 and 22, 2022, along with the complete Bonnaroo set from June 17, 2022. This a band that is doing what no one else is doing.

There was a saying in the world of the Grateful Dead: "They aren't the best at what they do, they're the



only one's who do what they do". I can safely say the same about King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. Go see them live and buy absolutely everything the sell.. They even give a lot of their music away!!!

He's good. He's bad. He's dark. He's full of light. He's Nick Cave. And they are the Bad Seeds. Seeing Nick Cave is far different than just listening to his records. I have had the honor to see him live a few times, and I each time I've been left in serious awe.
I have often wondered if I had what it takes to be a live performer, night after night, always bringing the intensity needed to take the audience on a journey. Few bands live up to the hype. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are one such band. They take these incredible songs and bring them to life in a way few artists can. You'll be exhausted at the end of this show.

Recorded live at the Montreux Jaxx Festival, July 2nd, 2022, this superb show is taken from the video webcast I am ever so lucky to have and to share with you. The show itself is 2:17 in length, and we only have two hours so you're going to miss the final few songs, but what you get is a masterpiece of epic proportions.

Go see Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds when they come to your town. You're welcome.

John Hell's Live Bootleg Bonanza

I'm a sucker for a good Pink Floyd show. This is the third time since I started this show back in June 2020 that I'm playing live PF. The first show was from 1970. The second was a mix of songs from 67 - 71. Tonight it's the Animals tour from 1977.
And 1977 was night after night of amazing performances. This was a band that didn't change it up much once Dark Side of the Moon came out. So long to the long improvisational jams. In its place was a 2+ hour show that featured stellar playing, lights show, videos and a band playing at its peak!

There are certain songs they would expand on: Money being one of them. This song would often hit the 10+ minute mark. This was also the final tour they would perform Careful With That Axe, Eugene in concert. Roger Waters' attitude to retiring "classics" was mostly about the band being tired of those songs.

This tour would feature all of the "Wish You Were Here" and "Animals", along with "Money" from "Dark Side of the Moon".

I have pretty much every show from 1977, and multiple sources from each, but the bootleg label Sigma has put together some of the best versions throughout the tour, each with good audio quality. Pink Floyd rarely taped their own shows, so soundboards are hard to come by. Luckily there are some great audience recordings during this tour. Tonight this is a mix of soundboards and excellent audience recordings.
