Leo Velazquez, better known as El Medio, is just one of the very talented members in Puerto Rican soundscape band, Balún, whose 2010 chiptune-influenced mini LP Memoria Textil was on the top of many "Best of" lists last year. In his solo work, El Medio seems to focus on just that – solidarity. His recent album El Fin del Sueno del Helicoptero Personal highlights his personal songwriting style with themes that reflect upon his past with an eye on the future. When paired with the orchestral nuances shaped by his lo-fi home studio El Medio successfully creates an intermingling of acoustic instruments and analog synths that is beautifully intimate.
