Uncle Ray's Psychedelic Soul

Episode # 76 American Idol & Tony Award winner CONSTANTINE MAROULIS…

Tuesday, December 15

and Uncle Ray watch football.

Growing up in Northern New Jersey, I spent much of my time in high school at the
home of my best friend Athan Maroulis, we were in a band together, the Pedestrians.
They are a Greek Orthodox family that moved out to the suburbs from Bay Ridge Brooklyn,
and I spent many hours in their kitchen learning Greek swear words, and in the basement making music. Athan’s younger brother Constantine went on to be 6th runner up on American Idol season 4, and it has lead to an excellent career on broadway (he won a Tony for his role in Rock Of Ages, and received a Drama League Award for Jekyll & Hyde.)

I am always happy to see Constantine, he’s a great and super fun guy, he is in on all the inside jokes my Jersey buddies had as kids, so he brings me back home when I get to see him. Aside all that, he is an incredibly gifted singer and talent.

Constantine was in town for an event he performed at, and called me up to see where I was watching the NY football Giants game a few Sundays back. I invited him over, he brought me a beautiful bottle of wine, and we enjoyed some San Francisco Chinese delivery, it was a fine day. The show is a little loose, as we where just hanging out, digging the game.
