I like to find new music by seeing which bands are active and playing live. In this case, I learned of a shoeqze festival near Seattle called Seagaze, which has been happening for a few years now.

This set is about 70% indie and underground shoegaze artists that performed at Seagaze, many from Seattle, but also from other places. I also threw in some old classics and other great stuff that wasn't part of Seagaze; but who knows? Someday maybe?

For reasons I do not fully understand myself, I am deeply in love with British rock and roll from the British Invasion on. I am a West Coast American guy, so I am sure there are many layers of British culture references that I miss completely. All I know is that Great Britain seems to churn out cool bands with catchy songs better than any other place on earth.

This is really hitting hard this summer as the undisputed champs 90s era "britpop" have reunited to tour, to the delight of pretty much everyone it seems. Even in San Francisco, where I live, the shops and restaurants are playing Oasis. Oasis merch is available for purchase in retail stores.

The video footage from their concert shows huge stadiums of people singing along and moshing like nothing I've ever seen. Oasis Live 2025 appears to be everything the people wanted and more.

A short time later, their singer, Ozzy Fucking Osbourne, passed away.

I am happy I got the chance to show some love before Ozzy died. I am happy the world came to appreciate and even respect heavy music in Ozzy's lifetime. It was not always so. Deep respect and love to Sharon Osbourne for bringing this about.

This week literally went ballistic. Missles flew. Bullets flew. Rubber bullets got shot. A few American politicians were at the receiving end of violence, some of it lethal. Federal troops came to Los Angeles. Somebody got a parade for their birthday, but it got rained on. 2000 or so communities across the United States got together to peacefully state their objection to monarchy. Sly Stone and Brian Wilson done passed on. I watched a couple of movies tha nicely t illustrated the split screen effect of "how we thought it might be/how it turned out" view of personal technology (Until the End Of the World/Mountainhead). Shoegaze is liminal music for liminal people in liminal phases of life during a liminal time in society. Its edges can be fuzzy, it's vocals sometimes unintelligible. It is simultaneously fragile, like ice and yet it will utterly crack open your psyche, like a glacier through a valley. Or if you prefer more sensual metaphors, it is the musical equivalent of tiramisu: layered, airy yet dense, complex and always tasty. It deserves to be heard it halls of worship.
