Not in Arizona, in the desert where he used to live, but here, in California. Not in the California southern desert, but nearby to the San Francisco area, in fact on Mount Tam. Not a python or large constrictor, but an amazingly huge Western Diamondback, Crotalus atrox, far larger than the peak of the size range Science allows for these reptiles. Not just a single serpent-- this one was preposterously overgrown-- but, in all probability, a great many others were actually present of the same species. Aand, many additional bits of gossip and quasi-related lore are offered here. Few will believe the story. Those who do are the ones who acknowledge that this world still contains mysteries of Nature.
