Malderor and Dr. Junk Get In The Hottub
November 14, 2012 8:00pm
Juan Rapido was out of town, so Malderor and (mostly) Dr. Junk filled in on Dante's Hottub. Preparation wasn't a huge priority, and Malderor didn't even show up for the first 30 minutes, so this is a loose and off-the-cuff episode of the show. Kind of a tightrope, "will they pull it off" kind of program. Features new music from the Hell Preachers, Inc., Johnny Legend, and Thee Faction, amongst many others.
Noah No-Last-Name-Given
November 11, 2012 2:00pm
Malderor's music-obsessed coworker Noah No-Last-Name-Given dropped by the new(ish) studio to play various cuts on vinyl and mp3. Dr. Junk was drunk and surly. And there were plentiful technical screw-ups from whomever was running the board. So, basically, your typical episode of the Malderor and Dr. Junk show. With some awesome garage rock and indie from Ty Segall, Eagulls, and A Place To Bury Strangers. Download that shit, homie. (Do people still say "homie?")

915 Cayuga
November 4, 2012 2:00pm
The talented folks from 915 Cayuga (http://www.915cayuga.com/) stopped by to do their live radio comedy variety show thingy. There was less music than normal, but more comedic stylings.
Dr. Junk Covers for Thump Juice
November 2, 2012 8:00pm
Thump Juice couldn't do their regular Friday night show, so Dr. Junk took over for a prime-time slot of Dr. Junk's musical stylings.
A Giants-Sized Hangover
October 28, 2012 2:00pm
This show was all about the San Francisco Giants, who were in the midst of sweeping the Detroit Tigers to win the goddamn World Series of Baseball. So Malderor and Dr. Junk had been drinking. A lot. Which, weirdly, lent itself to one of the most musically cohesive episodes of the program ever.
The Rapid Junk Show
October 13, 2012 8:00pm
Dr. Junk and Juan Rapido joined forces on a rare open Saturday evening primetime timeslot, for two hours of radio goodness (and making fun of Malderor) live from our brand new studios.
Another Backyard BBQ with Cheap Hooch and Juan Rapido
September 30, 2012 2:00pm
It was a beautiful day in the Bay Area, so we broadcast from a backyard BBQ in Noe Valley. We also had Cheap Hooch and Juan Rapido guesting on the show, and Malderor played (almost) 100% new music out of the UK, much of it still unreleased in the US. This included the Fixers, Peace, Gabriel Brice, Tame Impala and many more. (Malderor unearthed a veritable motherlode of new British music for this week.) There was also food, and drink, and sunshine and good times. Give it a download, won't you? (BEWARE. There was some issue with the internet connection, so there are a good number of skips and dropouts in the first half hour. We fixed it after that, but we apologize for the less-than-perfect sound at the start.)

The Malderor and D$ Show
September 23, 2012 2:00pm
Both Dr. Junk and Holly Hooch were off "camping" this weekend, so Malderor and D$ decided to pool their efforts and do a four-hour Malderor/Cheap Hooch radio show. We also threw open the doors of the new Radio Valencia location for an "open studio", so there is a rambunctious live-studio audience mixing cocktails in the background for all the mic breaks. We also played new music from Vir, Andrew Jackson Jihad, Larry & His Flask, Firewater, and Ringo Deathstarr.
Brian from Steamstock, plus Cheap Hooch
September 16, 2012 2:00pm
Brain from www.steamstock.org came by to talk about his festival and play a few songs from the performers he has lined up. Then Cheap Hooch showed up for their show, and Malderor stuck around and yammered far into their timeslot. There was also whiskey. Oh, this was also our first "real" show from our brand new studio.
Building A New Studio.
September 9, 2012 2:00pm
This show was relatively messy, as Malderor and Dr. Junk tried to continue their show as-normal, despite the fact that Radio Valencia is physically moving from their former studio to their new location at 20th and Mission. So there are the sounds of active construction in the background, as our new space is being built around us, and Malderor & Dr Junk play their usual flawless musical sets. With support from Juan Rapido and the ladies from Cheap Hooch Radio. And Fernet. Features new music from Lost Romance, The Hobbes Fanclub, Goldblade, and some random West African funk.

Live From A Swim-Up-Bar In Mexico
September 2, 2012 2:00pm
This week we're live on the air from sunny Mexico! Dr. Junk and I broadcast from a beach in Zihautanejo. There was a high surf advisory, and a 100% chance of margaritas. (Backstory: after last year's labor-intensive trip to Burning Man, we agreed on "The Playa" that we'd blow off Burning Man in 2012 and do our show from a swim-up-bar in Mexico.) So this show was brought to you while dangling our bits in a pool and drinking something called a "Coco Loco" out of a fresh coconut.
Also, it came to our attention mid-show that we were being rebroadcast by a camp called "Airship Victoria" at Black Rock City. So there is much mocking of poor benighted fools in the desert.
Special thanks to listeners from Amsterdam, Santa Rosa, New York state, Black Rock City, San Francisco, and wherever you tuned in from.
(Check out the blogpost for many more photos from the event.)

(Podcast includes the first hour or so of Cheap Hooch, because I didn't have a chance to listen to them before I went for a swim. At the bar.)

Dr. Junk Is Alone, and Mocking Malderor
August 26, 2012 2:00pm
Malderor was away on family business, but Dr. Junk held down the fort semi-ably. He played his normal selection of predictable songs, focusing mainly on our upcoming remote production, planned to be broadcast next week from a swim-up-bar in Zihuatanejo, Mexico. But it's an amiable enough selection, and he managed to mock Malderor senselessly, who was listening in the central valley with his mother when Dr. Junk played "The Blowjob Song."
Multi-show Madness
August 19, 2012 2:00pm
Today's radio programme continued our series of non-traditional renegade studio locations. As such, we broadcast from a backyard BBQ off San Jose Avenue, with a live studio audience. We seamlessly handed off to Cheap Hooch Radio, with special guest Juan Rapido, from Dante's Hot-tub. Well, "seamless" may be the wrong word. But all our shows kind of blended together, there was much banter, and the food was awesome. We'd like to thank our hosts T&C for having us radio miscreants. (Now, where did I leave my Mac power supply?)

Gigi and Pop and Kenball
August 12, 2012 2:00pm
Dr. Junk was "camping" or something, so Malderor was happy to host East Coast "retro-future-lounge-pop" band Gigi and Pop in the midst of their West Coast tour. Their shows at the Hemlock, Deluxe, El Rio, and Forbidden Island are all discussed, while Malderor plays new tracks from such acts as Jello Biafra, Dan Ross, and The Orb featuring Lee "Scratch" Perry.

Broadcasting From The Hot-Tub
August 1, 2012 8:00pm
Covering for Juan Rapido on 'Dante's Hot-tub', Malderor & Dr. Junk are continuing their series of non-traditional remote-broadcasts, this time coming at you from Malderor's living-room. Dr. Junk mostly played Malderor's vinyl collection, and Malderor played new and unreleased tunes. There was, however, a slight glitch with the remote software, and we were off the air for 24 minutes. (This section of the podcast is covered by Robo DJ.) DJ Netzard joined in later, with some classic punk vinyl, and Malderor's new kittens chewed on every available cable and cord.

Live Remotes, Garage Rock, & The Princess Bride
July 22, 2012 2:00pm
This week's show sees Dr. Junk and Malderor attempting their first ever live-remote broadcast from an 'undisclosed location'. (Okay, we gave away the coordinates almost immediately.) Our hosts had a garage sale, and we made pirate radio. Also, we had Mikl Em and Alexia come by from the Dark Room Theater, to promote their live-theatrical production of "The Princess Bride". Then we browbeat the lovely young ladies from Cheap Hooch into hiking up the hill to join us for the street party, so we all run overtime doing sidewalk radio. Pirate community radio, at its best. Download this stuff, stat! (Also, Malderor stole 90% of his "garage rock" tunes this week from www.louderthanwar.com.)

A Sprawling Work of Radio Genius
July 15, 2012 2:00pm
Malderor was back after a brief hiatus, to bring you brand new tracks from The Velveteen Saints, The Walkmen, and Glenn Campbell. The show also features a random foray into 2-step garage, and a gospel Bad Religion cover. So, you know, it's all over the place. As usual. I think Dr. Junk showed up too. Maybe. I can't remember. We did run 60 minutes overtime as Cheap Hooch was unable to get in to the studio.

A Very Different Episode
July 8, 2012 2:00pm
Malderor was on assignment in the Black Rock Desert, so Dr. Junk again called in Russell from local bluegrass act Rusty Stringfield to help him work the buttons. As such this is a rather unusual episode of the program. There are offerings of jazz, reggae, and even some jam-bands, as well as Dr. Junk's regular features. Quite a departure from what you might normally expect. Overall, Malderor describes it as "good music to fold your laundry to."
Dr. Junk is Very Proud
June 24, 2012 2:00pm
Malderor was off in Point Arena visiting his mother-in-law, so he left Dr. Junk to his own nefarious devices this week. When asked to provide a blurb for the show, Dr. Junk offered this:
While Malderor takes the day off for his PRIDE related activities, Dr. Junk welcomes a special guest - Russel from the bluegrass band Rusty Stringfield.
