Multi-show Madness
August 19, 2012 2:00pm
Today's radio programme continued our series of non-traditional renegade studio locations. As such, we broadcast from a backyard BBQ off San Jose Avenue, with a live studio audience. We seamlessly handed off to Cheap Hooch Radio, with special guest Juan Rapido, from Dante's Hot-tub. Well, "seamless" may be the wrong word. But all our shows kind of blended together, there was much banter, and the food was awesome. We'd like to thank our hosts T&C for having us radio miscreants. (Now, where did I leave my Mac power supply?)

Broadcasting From The Hot-Tub
August 1, 2012 8:00pm
Covering for Juan Rapido on 'Dante's Hot-tub', Malderor & Dr. Junk are continuing their series of non-traditional remote-broadcasts, this time coming at you from Malderor's living-room. Dr. Junk mostly played Malderor's vinyl collection, and Malderor played new and unreleased tunes. There was, however, a slight glitch with the remote software, and we were off the air for 24 minutes. (This section of the podcast is covered by Robo DJ.) DJ Netzard joined in later, with some classic punk vinyl, and Malderor's new kittens chewed on every available cable and cord.

Live Remotes, Garage Rock, & The Princess Bride
July 22, 2012 2:00pm
This week's show sees Dr. Junk and Malderor attempting their first ever live-remote broadcast from an 'undisclosed location'. (Okay, we gave away the coordinates almost immediately.) Our hosts had a garage sale, and we made pirate radio. Also, we had Mikl Em and Alexia come by from the Dark Room Theater, to promote their live-theatrical production of "The Princess Bride". Then we browbeat the lovely young ladies from Cheap Hooch into hiking up the hill to join us for the street party, so we all run overtime doing sidewalk radio. Pirate community radio, at its best. Download this stuff, stat! (Also, Malderor stole 90% of his "garage rock" tunes this week from www.louderthanwar.com.)

A Sprawling Work of Radio Genius
July 15, 2012 2:00pm
Malderor was back after a brief hiatus, to bring you brand new tracks from The Velveteen Saints, The Walkmen, and Glenn Campbell. The show also features a random foray into 2-step garage, and a gospel Bad Religion cover. So, you know, it's all over the place. As usual. I think Dr. Junk showed up too. Maybe. I can't remember. We did run 60 minutes overtime as Cheap Hooch was unable to get in to the studio.

A Very Different Episode
July 8, 2012 2:00pm
Malderor was on assignment in the Black Rock Desert, so Dr. Junk again called in Russell from local bluegrass act Rusty Stringfield to help him work the buttons. As such this is a rather unusual episode of the program. There are offerings of jazz, reggae, and even some jam-bands, as well as Dr. Junk's regular features. Quite a departure from what you might normally expect. Overall, Malderor describes it as "good music to fold your laundry to."
Dr. Junk is Very Proud
June 24, 2012 2:00pm
Malderor was off in Point Arena visiting his mother-in-law, so he left Dr. Junk to his own nefarious devices this week. When asked to provide a blurb for the show, Dr. Junk offered this:
While Malderor takes the day off for his PRIDE related activities, Dr. Junk welcomes a special guest - Russel from the bluegrass band Rusty Stringfield.

June 17, 2012 2:00pm
Dr. Junk was out shopping for a car or something, so Malderor had his friend Mully come in to play some tunes and talk about all the rock & roll the kids listen to today. Then Cheap Hooch decided they had "overindulged", so we ran overtime by two hours, and Netzard came in to play some tunes. Features brand new tracks from Japandroids, Guile, Hot Lunch, and many more, as well as a vintage interview with the Jesus & Mary Chain from back when they didn't suck.
Dr. Junk Turns Up After All
June 10, 2012 2:00pm
Dr. Junk assured us he was unavailable this week, and then turned up to drink martinis with Malderor and the late-appearing Bishop. We played a lot of new music. It was awesome.
Features tracks from The Vir, The Famous (a Misfits cover), Trelawny's Army, and A Place To Bury Strangers. Oh, and some hyphy-act from the East Bay called The Stunna Boys, who randomly gave me their CD on a BART platform. This is freeform radio at its finest.

Dr Junk Goes It Alone
June 3, 2012 2:00pm
Malderor got called in to work, leaving Dr. Junk to handle the station on his own this week. I'm sure he played a varied and eclectic mix of music, but I haven't downloaded it yet to find out. (Actually, I expect he played a lot of "accessible" Live 105/KFOG-friendly quasi-alternative greats that you know like the back of your golldarn hand. Or maybe I don't know Dr. Junk...)
Sid Luscious and the Pants
May 27, 2012 2:00pm
We had in-studio guests Sid Luscious and The Pants, for an enjoyably random foray into the music of the 80s, with lashings of punk rock and promotional items for shows that are coming up this week.
The Dr. Junk and The Sneaky Ferret Show
May 20, 2012 2:00pm
Dr. Junk had his friend "The Sneaky Ferret" on the program, for two hours of pirate radio that likely sounds like mainstream "alternative" radio from 1997. (Malderor was out of town at a wedding in scenic New Jersey, and unable to contribute.) When asked if he had any comment for these blog notes, Dr. Junk just said "Just write something that talks about how good I was." So, yeah, this week features less punk rock than normal, and probably a lot more from the Merge Records catalog.
Malderors Mom Visits!
May 13, 2012 2:00pm
In what might have been the most egregious error in judgment ever, Malderor invited his mother to come be on the radio program this week. Dr. Junk was relatively well behaved, more or less, but we violated the no pre-show martinis rule. And played a bunch of songs with "mother" in the title. So, um, download this. Be entertained.
The Greatest Two Hours In Radio History.
April 29, 2012 2:00pm
Dr. Junk was kind of grumpy this week. We also featured new tracks from Grouplove, Lesbian Bed Death, A Place To Bury Strangers, and the Revilers. And some listener requests. And some ranting about Malderor's niece, who made some questionable life choices. We might have run over time, too. Maybe
Moderation.
April 22, 2012 2:00pm
We're both a bit shattered from being out at the Lost Horizon Night Market or whatever. So this show is oddly all over the place. It's still way better than whatever mainstream radio you were going to tune in today instead. Features tracks from White Lies, Dick Clark, and Operation Ivy, plus many more things you've never heard on the goddamn radio before.
Flooded Studios and Dub 45s
April 15, 2012 2:00pm
Dr Junk was out of town, so Malderor played host to various musicians. Ezra, bassist from Brooklyn afro-dub band "Super-Hi-Fi", and Mully, guitarist from SF's own "FogDub" both showed up to play some tracks. This episode was sprawling, weird, and a fine example of everything you listen to pirate radio for. We played tunes from both musician's bands, as well as One-Eyed-King, Emily Zuzik, and whatever other weirdness our guests brought. (Dio got a rare Radio Valencia airing.) Also, Chicken John was tearing out the carpet in the studio while we were live on the air, so it was one of the most chaotic episodes ever. Give it a download, won't you?
It's Easter, Goddamnit
April 8, 2012 2:00pm
Dr Junk woke up on the floor of a Las Vegas hotel room, and Malderor wasn't much better off back here in the Bay Area. Still, they managed to get it together to show up in the studio to produce an amazing two hour set of radio about Jesus, zombies, ghosts, and other random bullshit people seem to believe in. Features brand new music from the Easter Parade, the Prodigy, and Joey Ramone (???). And Dr Junk received a gift from a listener.
April Foolios
April 1, 2012 2:00pm
For this year's April Fool's show, Dr. Junk decided to retaliate for last week's all-Australian episode by playing one artist, exclusively, all show long. So one crappy "parody polka" artist tested everybody's patience, when Dr. Junk's turn came about. For his part, Malderor played a bunch of music that seemed strangely familiar somehow.
The Australian Episode
March 25, 2012 2:00pm
Dr. Junk has what Malderor described as "Antipodiphobia", and has some kind of issue with Australia, Australians, and any place that's near Australia. As such, Malderor took this week to play a bunch of music from up-and-coming Australian bands, in order to needle Dr. Junk. The program features cuts from The Saints, The Hoodoo Gurus, and The Distillers, as well as genuinely new music from Dinowalrus, S.C.U.M., and Southern Fried Genocide. This week also saw our chat-room "popping off", with abundant blather from our beloved listeners, on the topics of polyamory and baseball mostly. Check it out.
A Drunken Dr Junk Flies Alone
March 18, 2012 2:00pm
Malderor was off in Arizona, at some baseball thing, so Dr Junk was on his own to preserve the dignity of the show. He may not have fully succeeded. DJ Dean (The Sneaky Ferret) came along, as did Mr. Jameson. The podcast also includes some of the Cheap Hooch show that is now following our program, to provide continuity.
