Larry Beau Visits
March 11, 2012 2:00pm
Irish troubadour Larry Beau visits the program this week, and provides live tunes with accompanying saw and guitar. Also, Malderor and Dr Junk are PHENOMENALLY hungover, having gotten lost in San Jose the night previous. Dr. Junk wanders on over time for a bit, and Malderor plays some songs in honor of Johnny Cash's birthday. Also new music from Unwoman, Pokey LaFarge, and Say Hello To The Angels.
We Should Go To Meetings
March 4, 2012 2:00pm
There was a Radio Valencia staff meeting happening while our show was on the air, so this week's episode features lots and lots of people popping into the studio to plug their programs. However, the studio harddrive was full, so we're not actually certain what got recorded. Download it and see!
The Academy Award Episode
February 26, 2012 2:00pm
Dr. Junk was in an even crankier mood than normal, and also failed to alert Malderor about his planned "theme" this week, which was "Songs From Movies". As such, Dr. Junk is the only person working with the theme, and Malderor is scrambling trying to play new music from The Enemy, Drive-By-Truckers, Wiz Khalifa and many more. There is also some bickering about the background music, and some general argument and rudeness.
Dr. Junk Flies Solo
February 19, 2012 2:00pm
Malderor was out of town, so Dr. Junk took the reins to do a show focusing on bands that will be playing at the upcoming NoisePop festival. (As well as demonstrating an unhealthy obsession with Malderor's posterior.)
(Note: There is a widget in the broadcast chain that is on the fritz, so the audio levels on this show go up and down at random. Allegedly it's being corrected, but for the purposes of this podcast, you may notice some abnormalities. Or maybe it was just Dr. Junk running the board on his own.)

Malderor Flies Solo
February 12, 2012 2:00pm
Dr Junk woke up hungover and so very very alone, and decided to go to the track instead of helping Malderor with his radio programme. Or maybe he was at the Power Exchange 10th Anniversary BBQ and Tea Dance. We don't really know. But Skippy came by, and Malderor had a bunch of French 75s before the show.
It's Super Bowl Sunday, And We Don't Care
February 5, 2012 2:00pm
While the rest of the world was settling in with chips, dips, and men in spandex, Dr. Junk and Malderor were at their post providing pre-game entertainment. The show featured music from Consolidated, Lords of the Underground, Noi!se, A Place To Bury Strangers, S.C.U.M and many more, as well as suspiciously consistent levels, for once.
January Is Over, For One Of Us
January 29, 2012 2:00pm
Dr. Junk packed it in as far as Sober January was concerned, so he rediscovered his youthful joi de vivre and glib good humor. Malderor was still on the straight-and-narrow, but had some trouble incorporating his new laptop into the sound-board. But the music was solid, and featured new tracks by Asia Argento, Mouthwash, Rasheed Chapell and Whiskerman. And the chatboard was particularly lively.
Sober January, Week 3 - Rain and Football
January 22, 2012 2:00pm
In this, the final weekend of Sober January, we're up against the 49ers playoff game. So there's some chat about that, as well as new music from Trailer Trash Tracys, the Rope, and many others, as well as tracks from Etta James and Jimmy Castor.
Sober January, Week 2 - The All Vinyl Episode
January 15, 2012 2:00pm
To make things more challenging for ourselves, we arbitrarily decided to do a show where we only play vinyl records for the week. This led to various fruitless record-buying forays in the East Bay, which are detailed on the program. This week's show has fewer new releases than normal, and a lot more stuff you probably already know and like. (Oh, there is no embedded playlist this week, as the studio laptop died.)
Sober January, Week 1
January 8, 2012 2:00pm
Malderor and Dr Junk are both taking January off "the sauce", as December was packed to the gills with excessive celebrations. As such the show is a lot less argumentative, and technically better produced. However, some fool monkeyed with the settings on our broadcast computer, so the first 10 minutes are over-driven while we figured out the levels. As is common with pirate radio. Otherwise, a solid show with lots of music released in the past week or so, including The Shakes, Sloppy Folk, and Tribes.
New Year's Day 2012
January 1, 2012 2:00pm
With the expected levels of hangover, this show actually came together better than most. Malderor played a selection of tracks that were all released in 2011, and Dr Junk got all obsessive about Tone Loc. But somehow it gelled into one of our better episodes. Features new music from The Naked and Famous, The Joy Formidable, Viva City, Les Butcherettes, and, um, Duran Duran. Running time is 2:12, as we wander a little overtime with new DJ McShormac.
Fandango Holiday Party
December 18, 2011 2:00pm
Our Village at the Big Dumb Camping Trip normally has a holiday party upstairs at Bootie at the DNA Lounge but, for various reasons, the scheduling didn't work out for that this year. So Billfrog had the bright idea to schedule an afternoon party during our radio show on Radio Valencia. So we played a few tracks while people mingled over cocktails. Since we did the show from the main stage in the warehouse, we had some technical hurdles to overcome. The first 10 minutes of the podcast might sound a little over-driven, but we soon worked all that out. Dr. Junk ran away when it looked like there might be cleanup work to do, so Cameron Jones stepped in to fill his shoes. There were also some incredibly drunken dudes from KFJC randomly joining us at the end.
We Run Overtime With Skippy
December 11, 2011 2:00pm
Since Dung is taking a few weeks off to recharge, the Malderor & Dr Junk show ran overtime, with help and assistance from Skippy and Billfrog. Lots of good tunes this week, in a four-hour marathon set of free-form radio right up until Cheap Hooch came on.
The No Malderor and Only Dr Junk Show
December 4, 2011 2:00pm
Malderor had other business to attend to, so Dr Junk took the reins himself for a show critics everywhere described as "okay". Malderor did phone in to check on his sidekick, but the show was marked, for once, with some musical consistency.
Dr Junk gets all 90's on us.
November 27, 2011 2:00pm
This was a standard-issue episode, with us only mildly hungover/drunk. Dr Junk did take us on an odyssey of forgotten 90's dance music, but Malderor kept it listenable. And the chatboard was lively, as always.
Messy.
November 20, 2011 2:00pm
This is one of those post-Bootie hangover/drunk episodes. Malderor probably owes somebody an apology.
Dr. Junk Goes Off The Rails
November 13, 2011 2:00pm
Dr Junk was on some kind of mission to sabotage what little listener goodwill we've built up, playing a selection of songs that were either of questionable taste or just plain awful. Malderor had some great new tracks sandwiched in here from artists like Symphonic and A Place To Bury Strangers, but you have to suffer through Dr. Junk's stuff to get there. For once, I recommend judicial use of the fast-forward button.
Leftovers and Offcuts
November 6, 2011 2:00pm
This was an "Odds and Sods" episode of the Malderor & Dr Junk show, as we played a lot of off-cuts and leftover tracks from the last few months' worth of vaguely "themed" programmes. The discussion on the chat board was lively indeed, and we played new tracks by The Matinees, Larry and His Flask, The Old Firm Casuals, the Black Keys, and many more.
VIR visit, and Mr Jason drops by.
October 30, 2011 2:00pm
Natasha and Sam, from local post-punk, psych-rock trio VIR, drop by the studio to play some new cuts and old tracks to promote their show this coming Wednesday at the Bottom Of The Hill. Malderor has a cold and therefore has all sorts of trouble with the new board. Mr. Jason visits from Portland to mock Malderor and Dr. Junk's shoddy boardwork. There is some drinking.
Hot and Hungover
October 23, 2011 2:00pm
We're both pretty hungover ths week, and Dr Junk was whinier than normal. Malderor tried to match his mellow wavelength by playing songs about heroin addicts. Includes the Jesus & Mary Chain covering the Beatles, the Pixies and Primal Scream covering the Jesus & Mary Chain, and much much more. Also, ranting.
