For the people in the back, I'll tell the story again.

I used to host a mid-day jazz/soul/funk show at KFJC 89.7FM on the Foothill College campus, south of Stanford. I was there 88-97, but only hosted this particular show from 93-95 I think. Anyway, every Friday at noon I would play 30 minutes of James Brown, and called it "The Brown Bag Lunch". It was so much fun. Being on a college campus means that a lot of coeds would walk by, and me being a young 20-something, I would keep the studio door open to the walking path, and the monitors turned way up, to really feel the funk! And I would dance, and I would sing, and I would turn on the mic and I would shout in James Brown fashion, YEEEEEEEEOW!

It was fun.

I even got to interview the Godfather by phone before one of his Bay Area shows. I tell the story during this show...again.

Every May 3rd KFJC hosts a 24+ hour Mayhem special in celebration of James Brown's birthday called "Doin' It To Death". I always get very excited to host a four hour set; it's like a holiday for me. My employer is aware of this, and supports it. Thanks boss!

There was no birthday special this year. Thanks COVID-19.

So instead I thought I would play two hours of James Brown for you Monday night. And then a miraculous thing happened: DJ Doug, who follows me on Monday nights 10-midnight, couldn't make it! So I have four hours of the Hardest Working Man In Show Business. Mr. Please Please Please. Soul Brother #1. The Minister of the New New Super Cool Funk. Mr. Dynamite Himself: JAMES BROWN!!!!

Yeah, it's like that. I keep mostly to my favorite era, 1968-1975.

The second half of the show focuses on my live collection of James Brown. This is some groovy funk for your face.
