Also, started doing something on the show that I meant to start pre Covid, playing one side of an album. Why? Because songs sound better when contrasted with other songs in a artfully modulated set, and because they don't do it on the radio anymore. I think Uncle Joe Benson's show on KLOS in L.A. was probably the last surviving show that featured albums. I used to listen to it every Sunday night as a kid. The other reason is sometimes there's just not enough good submissions to make a two hour show interesting. So featured on this show, The Gray Race by Bad Religion.

Took a left turn back to the 80's about midway through, though the song "My Friend Peter" by Whitening is contemporary. Like many, I was stunned and deeply saddened by the loss of Neil Peart. He left an indelible mark on music, and myself. The music of Rush has always been a part of me, since age 9 when I first heard "A modern day warrior mean mean stride / today's Tom Sawyer mean mean pride." His lyrics were thought provoking, insightful, and captured the essence of the human condition like no other. If there's a soundtrack for my life, Rush is it.

As I've been doing radio for a little over a year, in a way, this is a one year anniversary show. I played only music that I've discovered via submissions to the station, and other places too; one's ears tend to perk up in a different way when you start doing radio. It expands one's horizons, and diversifies one's taste. There's a few "rediscoveries" too.

THANK YOU to all the bands and artists who have sent music to the station, and me personally. Bo's Veranda would just be a rickety porch without all the terrific music we receive. Sorry I couldn't include all the great bands/artists, but perhaps I'll do another show like this soon.
