started the show with a handful of tracks by EYEHATEGOD, UZI SUICIDE, SANITY'S DAWN, my German homies YACOPSAE, BOMBSTRIKE, PLF, SWARRRM, SKRUPEL, HAEMORRHAGE, a new track from Taiwanese band SLEAZE, a couple ditties from MACABRE, a whole lot of classic and new BOBBY JOE EBOLA, HICKEY (RIP Matty), and ended with a bunch of FUNERAL ORATION.

really fun show tonight! guest were Jeff from Anaheim CA's political punx VINDICTIVE; we chatted about the band, politics, the punx community and the upcoming Crust-Stock Fest they are throwing down south. then our home-grrrl Krysta of LANDMINE MARATHON chatted with us shortly before she was to take the stage at the DNA Lounge here in SF- great fucking band, check em out!~ next up was Brandon from OLD WOUNDS from NJ. these guys are on a full US tour and have run into some car troubles in the south. tracks were played by all three of these diverse and killer bands.

Cold Ones & Rolled Ones with Ami Lawless is honored to have legendary metal bad-ass Paul Speckmann of MASTER on tonight’s show. MASTER who originated in Chicago, has been laying down the most brutally uncompromising death metal on the planet since 1985 and Paul (vo-kills & bass) has managed to keep this beast chugging away for 28 years now! This band has been a true influencial force in the international death-metal genre, who remain as vital today as they did in the early days. This weekend bay area metal heads will have the opportunity to experience MASTER in person at The Oakland Metro Opera House. This is a rare opportunity since Paul now calls the Czech Republic home, making US visits far and few between. If this chat with Mr. Speckmann wasn’t enough; the good folks at Rogue Ronnin Promotions will be giving a few sets of tickets away on the show tonight as well. PHOBIA will be playing in San Francisco this Saturday at what used to be called The Rocket Room. One can not talk of the grind genre without mentioning this band! Shane has kept this beast of a band going strong since 1990, through line up changes, solid release after solid release and continuous touring. This band has built a cult fallowing and deservedly so with critically acclaimed releases like ”What Went Wrong demo”, “All That Remains”, “Return to Desolation”,”Enslaved” and all the other crucial releases and splits….this bands’s discography is massively impressive.

PHOBIA just experienced every bands worst nightmare yesterday. While on tour they had a pretty bad car accident; totaled their van and their roadie Danny Ruiz of Phoenix grind band GAWDAWFULNOISE sustained a broken back. We here at CO&RO wish Danny a speedy and full recovery; it takes more than a car accident to keep a true grinder down!

local entreprenuer and bad ass Jason Herbers (owner of Eli's Mile High Club in Oakland) came by and sat in the co-host seat for some old school educating! Jason played some obscure classics by Peruvian 60's garage band Los Saicos and a few others. I also twisted his arm into playing his band BAD COYOTES and we got in a BLANK 77's track as well. Jason is a smart & funny mother fucker and this show was a definite fun one.

Cold Ones & Rolled Ones with Ami LawLess is stoked to announce Blag Dahlia notorious front-man/ founder of seminal hardcore punk band The DWARVES will be on the show tonight, Thursday October 11th 6-8pm (bay are time zone). Blag has accomplished many diverse projects in his career as a musician, author& producer while keeping it all truly D.I.Y., not many successful artists can claim this. Blag will be doing a reading from one of his books (Nina and/or Armed to the Teeth with Lipstick) this weekend at Lit Crawl which is part of San Francisco Lit Quake. Very savvy of Lit Quake to incorporate Blag into their weeklong run of events, with this being a rare and much anticipated appearance that is not to be missed, so be sure to tune in tonight and get all the information of where this will be going down at. Radio Valencia along with Ami Lawless is honored to have the man, the myth, the legend himself; Katon W. DePena of the mighty HIRAX live on air chatting about all things HIRAX. Katon with his cohorts in HIRAX were creating crossover while other bands that would later be lumped into the wild mix of hardcore & metal were still practicing in their parents garages. HIRAX through trials and tribulations has most definitely stood the test of time leaving their mark on the metal scene with a massive die-hard fan base, constant world domination through touring and critically acclaimed release after solid release dating back to their first 4-song demo in 1984. There are really not that many metal bands who can claim the kind of loyal fallowing that HIRAX has created, especially for almost 3 decades. One of the contributing factors to the longevity and success of HIRAX (besides their killer music) is their charismatic and talented front man Katon, who is one of the most well loved and respected guys in metal. This guy is a true lifer in the music community and a genuinely nice dude who takes time to be accessible to his fans.
