A Female Bent
Most of the new music featured this week is from female musicians. Just the way it worked out. Not a political statement, unless you think equality is bad. Similarly, the Nazi in the Whitehouse is a racist, narcissistic, sociopath douche bag is also not a political statement, unless you think those things are ok, like nearly all Republicans.

Jam out...

The legendary Joao Gilberto passed away on Saturday. Known as the father of Bossa Nova, he brought Brazilian music into the international spotlight with tunes like "The Girl From Ipanema" and "Corcovado." I had to play a few of his tunes, and really got into a groove with other stuff. Listenership hit an all time high on The Veranda! This show is not to be missed!

Superovertime! After working night shift and being up for over 24 hours, my show went overtime as DJ Dial-A-Shot was missing in action. Loopy-brain improv DJing ensued at 4PM with varying results. Before that, I got a little soap-boxish because hey, we're in Nazi occupied America where we put children in concentration camps. Unlike spineless Republicans, I won't stay silent. New Segement; Asshole Musicians
Ever talk to someone about a band and the response you get is, "Yeah, but they're assholes!" Well, water is wet, and many musicians (and artists) are tortured souls, so yeah, they might be dicks at times. I don't care how much of an asshole musicians are (within limits) because I care about the music, not the musician. It just bugs me that so much emphasis (read: marketing) is placed on the players and less on the quality of the music. So we're starting a new segment with total assholes that make good music, even if it's not something I particularly care for (read Morrissey, Michael Jackson, but more on that later). Enjoy! After getting s new turntable and rediscovering that playing vinyl is like my ears having sex, I played a bunch of stuff in that vein, which means a lot of 80's. Sadly the sound doesn't come through via digital media. Oh well. I'll probably post a show about vinyl rehab once I go broke buying records. In the meantime, enjoy, and thanks for listening.

The Cars That Go Vroom!
Ran into a guy named George who was a very drunk, Aston Martin Mechanic. After asking me several times (and me telling him, several times) what my dream car would be, it got me thinking about all the songs about cars and driving. Needless to say, there's a mother fuckload of them. Hence tonight's show. DJ Paultics stuck around for some drunken banter too. (I gotta quit giving him Jameson, not doing him any favors.)

Enjoy!
